What is IDD Therapy Disc Treatment?

Intervertebral Differential Dynamics (IDD) Therapy is a successful and trusted non-surgical spinal decompression treatment for back pain, neck pain and radicular pain into either an arm or leg such as sciatica.

Many back pain conditions are located at a particular level in the spine. With IDD Therapy we use computer-controlled pulling forces to gently distract (draw apart) targeted segments of the spine in order to take pressure off specific discs and nerves.

By decompressing (taking pressure off) an injured or bulging disc, mobilising facet joints and stretching the soft tissues, we can improve mobility in the spine and allow the body’s natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently. In so doing, we can relieve pain caused by muscle spasm and alleviate nerve compression and irritation caused by bulging discs.

The goals of IDD Therapy treatment are:

  • Improve the health of the intervertebral disc
  • Rehabilitate supporting muscles.
  • Unlock restricted facet joints
  • Realign spinal structures
  • Release pressure on nerves

Typical candidates for IDD Therapy are people who have back or neck pain and may have tried various other treatments without success.

They may be taking pain medication and may be considering invasive treatments such as injections or in extreme cases, surgery.

There are over 1,000 clinics providing treatment internationally and a growing UK network including physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors.
